Shipping Policy
LPT – Live Fish Shipping Policy (Wholesale Orders)
At LPT, we take pride in providing healthy, high-quality fish to our wholesale partners. All wholesale shipments are handled with the utmost care to ensure safe and timely arrival through Southwest Cargo Collect services.
1. Shipping Method
All wholesale live fish orders are shipped via Southwest Cargo Collect. This service allows for faster transit, reduced handling, and direct pickup at your nearest Southwest Airlines Cargo facility.
- Shipments are booked under the customer’s name for Cargo Collect payment at pickup.
- Customers are responsible for cargo fees due at the time of pickup.
- An AWB Number and flight details will be provided once the shipment is booked.
2. Shipping Schedule
Wholesale orders are typically shipped Monday through Thursday, depending on flight availability and weather conditions. No weekend or holiday shipments are made to avoid delays. Orders must be confirmed at least 24 hours prior to the shipping date to ensure space availability.
3. Packaging Standards
Each wholesale order is prepared with professional care to maximize live arrival success. All shipments include:
- Insulated boxes for temperature control
- Pure oxygen and secure double-bagging for all fish
- Heat or cold packs as needed based on destination climate
- Clearly labeled live fish markings in compliance with airline standards
4. Weather and Flight Holds
LPT reserves the right to delay or reschedule shipments due to extreme temperatures, airline delays, or unsafe weather conditions. Our goal is to ensure the live arrival and safety of all livestock during transit. Customers will be notified promptly of any scheduling changes or holds.
5. Cargo Pickup Responsibilities
It is the customer’s responsibility to pick up the shipment promptly upon flight arrival, inspect all boxes immediately after pickup, and report any concerns or issues within three (3) hours of receiving the cargo. Failure to pick up in a timely manner may void the Live Arrival Guarantee.
6. Acclimation Instructions
Proper acclimation is crucial to ensure the health of your fish upon arrival:
- Float sealed bags in the receiving tank for 30–40 minutes to equalize temperature.
- Gradually mix tank water into the bag over 30–45 minutes.
- Gently release the fish into the tank — do not add shipping water to your system.
- Dim lighting and avoid feeding for 12–24 hours to reduce stress.
7. Health and Quarantine
All LPT livestock is quarantined, fasted, inspected and conditioned prior to shipment. However we strongly recommend quarantining all new arrivals for a minimum of 2 weeks before introduction to existing systems.
